Abstract

967,875. Magnetic structures. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. July 27, 1961 [Aug. 30, 1960], No. 27281/61. Heading H1H. In making a magnet comprising fine magnetic particles embedded in a lead or lead/antimony alloy matrix as disclosed in Specifications 815,919 and 906,717, a small amount of cadmium is included in the matrix material to prevent whisker growth. The cadmium may be added as pure metal or as PbCd alloy. In the matrix the ratio of the weight of cadmium to the weight of lead is 0.09 : 1. The magnetic particles may be iron, cobalt, nickel or alloys thereof.
