Abstract

967,186. Composite sheets; expanded metal. S. WOOLF. April 24, 1963 [Jan. 24, 1962], No. 2664/62. Heading E1K. A structural member is formed from a sheet which is slit and corrugated so that there are tabs 3 pressed out of the sides of the corrugations into two parallel planes and joined by inclined strips 4 the tabs 3 in each plane being welded, riveted &c. together at 7. The member may be welded between sheets to form a composite sheet which may be curved. The strips 4 may be of channel section and the tabs 3 dished or flanged for stiffness. The member may be used as reinforcement or as a girder.
