Abstract

The sodium, calcium and magnesium salts of isonicotinoyl-hydrazine -N- methylene sulphoxylate are prepared by reacting the metal formaldehyde sulphoxylate with isonicotinic acid hydrazide.ALSO:Pharmaceutical compositions for the treatment of leprosy and tuberculosis comprise sodium formaldehyde sulphoxylate and a salt of isonicotinoyl-hydrazine-N-methylene sulphoxylate e.g. the Na, p Ca or Mg salt. They may be put up into conventional forms suitable for oral, parenteral and rectal administration e.g. a tablet, aqueous injectable solution or suppository such forms containing conventional pharmaceutical excipients.
