In a pump comprising a series of circumferentially arranged piston and cylinder assemblies 16, 17 mounted in a pump body 11 and actuated by an eccentric 13 on a vertical shaft 12 supported in bearings 28, 29, the body 11 is closed by a cover 14 to form an oil reservoir 34 for the actuating mechanism, the pump being mounted in a sump 10 from which the pump draws. Leakage between the piston 17 and cylinder 16 is collected in groove 32 connected to the sump by a passage 33.
