966,369. Determining relative quantities of fluid mixture constituents. SIEMENS-SCHUCKERTWERKE A.G. June 13, 1963 [June 15, 1962], No. 23696/63. Heading G1N. [Also in Divisions F4, H1 and H2] In an installation comprising an electric machine e.g. tube-generator having parts e.g. hollow stator conductors cooled by a liquid e.g. distilled water, and other parts cooled by a gas e.g. hydrogen at a higher pressure and substantially different dielectric constant than the liquid, leakage of the gas into the liquid is detected by a change in capacitance of a capacitor 11 between whose electrodes 12 the liquid is passed. As shown, an adjustable inductor 15 and a H.F. oscillator 16 are in parallel across the capacitor 11 and in resonance when the liquid does not contain gas; when leakeage occurs the circuit becomes non-resonant and this change is detected by an amplifier 21 which supplies a relay 22 having switch contacts. The liquid circuit includes arecooler 4 and a pump 5, and the gas filling is circulated through the rotor 7 and stator laminations 8 by fans 6.
