Abstract

855,284. Dynamo-electric machines. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. July 17, 1959 [July 23, 1958], No. 23697/58. Class 35. A liquid-filled type of dynamo-electric machine has extending axially from and formed integrally with a liquid casting insulating material 19 encapsulating the stator windings 15 ... 17 a connecting lead conveying stem 20 arranged to project through a hole 22 in the end of the machine, and a sealing means for preventing liquid leakage through the hole. As shown the sealing means comprises a resilient 0-ring 24 wedged against a terminal box base plate 25 by a clamp-ring 26, and the machine is a squirrel-cage motor driving a pump 18 whose liquid enters the motor interior through the drive end bearing. The connecting leads 21 are conveyed by the stem 20 to an insulated terminal board (not shown) in the box 23. The encapsulating material may be either thermo- or non- thermo-setting, and may be that known by the Registered Trade Mark " Araldite."
