965,181. Wrapping machines. FORGROVE MACHINERY CO. Ltd. Dec. 5, 1962 [Jan 16, 1962], No. 1580/62. Heading B8C. A wrapping machine comprises means for supporting an article 11 with a wrapper partially folded around it, and a reciprocable folder consisting of a support 14 which carries on the surface thereof a smooth, thin, flexible belt 16 arranged so that, as the support 14 advances, the projecting portion 12 of the wrapper is rolled progressively against the article. The partially wrapped article 11 is first raised by an elevator 10 to grippers 13, 13A which hold the article while the portion 12 is rolled against the article after the elevator has been lowered. The grippers then carry the article to the right of Fig. 2 so that the projecting portion 12A of the wrapper is folded against the article by a fixed plate 15. The belt 16 is attached at one end to a bar 17 and at the other end by tensioned springs to the machine frame so that the belt can be extended. Alternatively both ends of the belt are attached to the bar 17 which is located between two sets of rollers which carry the belt.
