[Also in Divisions B2 and C3] A metal surface is covered by applying to its surface a plate or film of a modified polyolefine comprising a polyolefine which has had grafted thereon from 0.01 to 5 milli-equivalent grams per gram of polyolefine of an ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid or carboxylic acid anhydride. A further layer, such as a metal or a synthetic resin, for example a polyolefine, may be secured to the modified polyolefine. The covering may be applied to the metal surface by any conventional method, preferably with heating, so that the modified polyolefine is softened or melted when it comes into contact with the surface. The grafting may be at the surface only of the film or plate, in which case it is the concentration at the surface that is calculated.
