A drying cabinet is fixed to a wall 3 by a plate 1 and comprises side arms 4 hingedly supporting a dished cover 5 housing a tangential air blower 16, heater elements 20 and support members 7 from which depend hangers 8 for clothes to be dried, which hangers extend perpendicularly to the wall. The blower is mounted parallel to the wall and comprises a plurality of lengths longitudinally spaced on a common shaft driven by a single motor (not shown). A curtain 23 is hung upon rails 22 fixed in the cover 5 adjacent the front and side walls and may be so divided that in the downward inoperative position of the cabinet (as shown in dotted outline) it lies wholly within the cover. Each clothes hanger may be formed from two levers independently pivoted near their ends to a support member 7 so that they bear against the member 7 to locate the levers in a depending operative position (Fig. 3, not shown).
