Abstract

964,294. Jewellery. COROCRAFT Ltd. April 30, 1963 [May 3, 1962], No. 17057/62. Heading A3H. [Also in Division E2] A necklace comprises a string of pearls or the like, having both ends of the string attached to a connecting member on which is mounted a clip to grip the string at a point intermediate its ends so that the string forms a double loop. The ends of the string for the pearls are connected to two metal rings 11 and an ornamental connecting member 12 and the wire clip 13 thereon is engaged over an intermediate length of the string to form a double row of pearls. The ends of the wire clip are out-turned and engage each in a hinge barrel 14. The wire ends of the hinges have helical edges to urge the links together as the clip opens to create a returning force urging the clip to close. In another embodiment the ends of the string engage rings 16 on the connecting member and the wire clip 18 engages over a double row to form either a double row with free ends or a triple row. The clip is urged to closed position by a blade spring 22 acting on a projection 23 adjacent the clip pivot. The clip may have a prong 25 which extends between two pearls in one row.
