Abstract

A lubricating oil composition, suitable for addition to a leaded gasoline to form a 2-stroke fuel, comprises a major proportion by weight of a mineral lubricating oil, from 0.2 to 3.4% wt. of ethylene dibromide, and from 0.5 to 10% wt. of a condensation product obtained by reacting a C12- 30 fatty acid with an alkylene polyamine of M.W. 60-1200 and containing one more nitrogen atom per molecule than alkylene groups, at a temperature of 300-420 DEG F. for 3-15 hours, the mol. ratio of fatty acid to polyamine being from X : 1 to (X - 3)=1, where L is the number of amine groups in the polyamine. The condensation reaction may in some cases give rise to an imidazoline ring. Fatty acids mentioned are caprylic, capric, lauric, myristic, palmitic, stearic, arachidic and behenic acids, and polyamines mentioned are diethylene triamine, triethylene tetramine and tetraethylene pentamine.
