Abstract

The invention comprises the product of reacting, in a 6-1:1 molar ratio, a C5- 34 alkyl-phenol and a polyalkyleneamine H2NRNH(RNH)xH, wherein R is a C2 or C3 alkylene radical and x is 1-3. In examples, the phenol is mono-nonyl or decyl phenol; dinonyl-phenol-, catechol or -resorcinol; p-t-amyl phenol or a chlorowax phenol. Exemplified amines are diethylenetriamine, triethylestetramine, tetraethylenepentamine and dipropylenetriamine.ALSO:Distillate fuel oil and gasoline compositions contain the product of reacting a C5-34 alkylphenol and a polyalkyleneimine H2NRNH(RNH)xH, wherein R is a C2 or C3 alkylene radical and x is 1-3. Other additives such as silicones, dinitropropane, amyl nitrate, metal sulphonates, lead tetraethyl, haloalkanes, phosphate esters and alcohols, may also be present.
