Abstract

The invention comprises water-soluble leucosulphuric acid ester salts which, in the form of the free acids, have the formula <FORM:0962017/C4-C5/1> where each x is hydrogen, chlorine or -NH aroyl, each y is hydrogen or chlorine, each R is -NH2, -NH alkyl, -N (alkyl)2, -NH cyclohexyl, -NH aryl, -O alkyl, -O aryl, phenyl, piperidino or morpholino, Z is the radical of hydrazine of a diamine bound through the nitrogen atoms to the triazine ring, and wherein the two anthracene and triazine radicals are identical, at least 6 hydrogen atoms are attached to each anthracene nucleus and the alkyl radicals contain 1 to 6 carbon atoms. The dyes are made by reacting together in an aqueous medium and in the presence of an acid-binding agent, 2 mols. of a compound of the formula <FORM:0962017/C4-C5/2> where R1 is chlorine or has one of the values of R above, and, in any sequence, 2 mols. of a compound of the formula <FORM:0962017/C4-C5/3> where x and y have the meanings given above and 1 mol. of hydrazine or a diamine, and, when R1 is chlorine the product is reacted with 2 mols. of a compound of formula R-H, where R has the meaning given above but is not phenyl. The leuco-esters are used to dye and print cotton red to yellow shades.
