961,754. Grinding and polishing. J. G. LUNDIN, and P. O. S. PENNGARD. July 13, 1962 [Aug. 4, 1961], No. 26972/62. Heading B3D. Solid or semi-solid abrasive and polishing waxes are applied to grinding or polishing tools 29 or directly to the work by apparatus comprising a heating chamber 9 in which the material 3 is maintained at a suitable consistency and from which it is thrown into contact with the tool or work by the action of a jet 28 of gas or air which is adjustable, the size of the particles being determined by the temperature of the wax and the intensity of the jet. The chamber 9 is maintained at the required temperature by a thermostaticallycontrolled heater 4 and the air or gas pressure is regulated by valves 22, 23. The outlet 12 from the chamber 9 to the blast chamber 13 is controlled by a piston-operated valve 19, the piston being movable in an opening directiin by the air pressure against the closing action of a spring 20. Parts such as the valve body 19, the walls of the zone 13 and diffuser 17 may be of hard materials.
