Abstract

1332107 Pneumatic nut-runner CHICAGO PNEUMATIC TOOL CO 12 April 1972 [28 April 1971] 16857/72 Heading B3N A pneumatic tool includes a motor 122, a slidable control member 54, a control air feed passage 123 for conducting live air to pressurize the control member to a closed position, a relief passage 65 connected in the passage for relieving live air from the passage to an exhaust port, a governor controlled valve 63 movable from and to a closed position relative to the relief passage, and speed responsive centrifugal governor means operatively connected to the motor for governing the directional movement of the governor controlled valve. In operation member 54 is depressed to connect air to motor 122 via passage 125. Pressurized air also passes along passage 123 to chamber 81 to shut member 54. Passage 123 is restricted and before the pressure in the chamber can reach a sufficiently high value the motor reaches a speed 10% above its free speed. Governor weights then pivot outwardly and push valve 63 against spring 64. This vents passage 123 and chamber 81 to exhaust via chamber 56. When the motor is loaded and its speed drops to 10% below its free speed spring 64 can move valve 63 to shut off passage 65. Pressure then builds up in chamber 81 to shut off member 54.
