Abstract
A continuous fermentation process for the production of penicillins (including 6-amino-penicillanic acid) comprises carrying out the culture of a high penicillin-yielding strain of a mould of the genus Penicillium in a culture having at least 1/2 % of corn steep by volume and a pH value maintained between 7 and 7.4. The production is preferably carried out in an aerobic two-stage continuous fermentation process of the type described in Specification 894,899.
