Abstract

A pyridylmethyl penicillin is produced by growing a penicillin-producing strain of Penicillium chrysogenum in a conventional nutrient medium for the production of penicillin in the presence of a precursor which is a pyridylacetic acid, an unsubstituted pyridylacetamide, or a salt thereof. Strains which may be used are P. chrysogenum ATCC 10002, ATCC 12690, ATCC 16520 and ATCC 16521.
