Abstract
6-Aminopenicillanic acid is prepared by treating phenoxymethylpenicillin or a salt thereof, or a fermentation liquor containing the aforesaid penicillin or a salt thereof, at a pH of at least 7 with a penicillin amidase enzyme preparation derived from Achromobacter sp. Achromobacter sp. NClB 9424, A. arsenoxydans NClB 8687 and A. anitratus NCTC 8102 are specified micro-organisms. Cultivation and isolation is according to the parent Specification.
