Abstract

The circular machine described in the parent Specification has a rotating needle cylinder and has the rotating cam system moving at a speed which is three or more times that of the cylinder. The other cam system remains stationary. The rotating cam system, however, is operative only during one of its three or more revolutions during which the needle cylinder makes a complete revolution. By increasing the speed of the rotating cam system, it is possible to increase the width of the area of reinforcement in which the reinforcing yarn is knitted together with the main yarn in one course and knitted back alone within the reinforced area before the next course containing the main yarn and reinforcing yarn are knitted.
