Abstract

Dilution-stable emulsions are made by emulsifying certain siloxanes in known manner. The siloxanes used have the general formula RnSiO u-n/2 , wherein n has an average value between 1.8 and 2.1 and each R is a methyl, phenyl or hydroxyl radical, the latter, if present, being in a minor proportion, but are characterized in that the ratio of methyl to phenyl radicals is from 100:1 to 100:15. In examples, specified methyl phenyl siloxanes are emulsified by the process of Specification 808,193, by first emulsifying the siloxane in a mixture of oleylpolyglycolether, ethanol and water, then diluting this primary emulsion with water and further emulsifying the resulting mixture.
