Abstract

A sealing compound for use in a vacuum casting apparatus (see Division B3) comprises a mixture of a low molecular weight glycidyl polyether, a condensation product of such a polyether with a glycol such as ethylene glycol, and a curing agent such as a mixture of a primary curing agent of pyromellitic dianhydride and a secondary curing agent comprising one or more organic acid anhydrides. Accelerators such as alphamethylbenzyl dimethyl amine, n-butyl amine, pyridine and N-methyl pyridine in catalytic amounts, 0.5-3% by weight of the resins may be added, together with fillers such as atomised aluminium, iron, copper, aluminium oxide, silica powder and asbestos.
