[Also in Division B5] Apparatus for cutting tubular material 22 comprises means 28 for supporting the material in a generally upwardly or horizontally extending direction and so that it can be tilted to various angles, and a rotary cutting device 28 mounted so as to be advanced into engagement with the material and to make a cutting traverse around it, whereby the material is cut at a required angle as determined by the angle at which it is supported. The supporting means 20 is determined by the size of the tubular material to be cut and secured to a spigot 18 extending from a clamp 17 adjustably mounted on a quadrant 16a between pillars 11 of a frame having a base 10 and a ring 12. An annular table 14 is supported and guided by rollers on the ring 12 and is formed with guides 23 for a carriage 24 which is movable by a hand wheel 25 and screw 26 and carries a motor 27 connected by a belt-drive 29 to a shaft 32 carrying the cutting device 28 comprising a high speed friction cutting wheel. The table is rotatable relative to the ring 12 by a friction wheel 35 which engages a curtain 36 secured to the table and is driven by reduction gearing 41 from a motor, the wheel being movable about a universal joint 42 into and out of engagement with the curtain by a foot pedal. In operation, the tubular material, which may be sheet metal piping as used in air conditioning equipment, is secured by a clamp 25 to the support 20 and the clamp 17 adjusted to the desired angular position. The cutting device 28 is then advanced radially into the material and the friction wheel 35 engaged with the curtain to rotate the table 14 and device 28 around the material. The Provisional Specification refers to the cutting device as being an abrasive wheel.
