Abstract

958,424. Mounting electric heaters in rotary curing or vulcanizing apparatus. AMERICAN BILTRITE RUBBER CO. Inc. Jan. 26, 1962, No. 3169/62. Heading H5H. [Also in Division F4] Spaced electric heating elements 26 mounted in three stationary, segmental carrier plates 18 heat by radiation a moving steel pressure band 15 maintaining a web of material in contact with a rotary drum 11, each carrier plate having rollers 19 at each end to run on the outer surface of the band and to maintain the plate in predetermined spaced relation therefrom. The plates are urged into contact with the band by radial tension springs 20 secured at one end near the ends of the plates and at the other to brackets on the frame 11 of the drum. The heater sections are movably suspended from two rings 17 of angular cross-section secured to the frame by links 27 provided on each section, which links are pivotally connected to transverse shafts journalled in bearings 28 on the rings 17. The temperature of the heater sections may be controlled by thermocouple units 22 which are mounted in adjustable contact with the band 15 on arms 23 on shafts journalled in brackets 24 on the fixed rings 17 having adjustably counterweighted arms 25.
