Abstract
958,107. Coupling and uncoupling devices for rail vehicles. STAMICARBON N.V. March 22, 1963 [March 23, 1962], No. 11525/63. Addition to 926,439. Heading B7T. The movable magnet carrying arm of the parent Specification is provided with a particular form of permanent magnet or electromagnet to move the coupling hook. The arm 1, Figs. 1 and 2, has limited movement in the plane of Fig. 1 and mounts a yoke 2 carrying two pole shoes 4 defining a groove 7 adapted to engage the hook 10. Two saturated permanent magnets 6, the lines of force of which run parallel to the bolts 5, are clamped between the shoes, and non-magnetizable parts 8 and 9 acting as a filler and hook guide lips respectively are provided. The pole shoe ends are of Vee shape in cross-section, Fig. 1, so that a hook may be contacted from either side of the head.
