957, 898. Photographic processing apparatus. C. J. VAN LEEUWEN. 17 May, 1961 [May 24, 1960], No. 18031/61. Heading G2A. In an apparatus for applying two liquids in succession to a photographic sheet, the first is applied by roller, and the second by immersion. In the arrangement shown, the sheet is introduced into the apparatus between rollers 6, 7. The lower roller 6 dips into a bath 4 of developing liquid, which is thus applied to the under side only of the sheet. The sheet then passes into a fixing bath 5, being guided therein by guides 9, 12. These guides consist of a set of upper wires 12 and a set of lower wires 9, each set being divided into two groups in diverging directions (Fig. 2, not shown). The lower wires have an initial sharply bent portion 9a, 9b, so that the paper sheet passes into the liquid in bath 5 before making contact with the lower guiding wires. Thus no liquid is picked up by inadvertent contact, each part of the sheet being in contact with each liquid for exactly the same time. The sheet is discharged from the apparatus by rollers 14, 15.
