Abstract
Solid particles are surface treated with an aqueous emulsion of a compound R-[NH-(CH2)p]n-NH2 wherein R is a C8-C22 saturated, unsaturated, straight or branched chain, aliphatic or cycloaliphatic hydrocarbon group (or the corresponding acyl group); n is an integer from 2 to 5 and p is 2 or 3. The acyl group can be derived from natural glycerides, colophony acid or tall oil or fractions thereof. A list of acids from which R can be derived is given. The compounds can be mixed with kerosene, spindle oil, anthracene oil, soya bean oil or tallow fat. Specified polyamines for preparing the compounds are dipropylene triamine, tripropylene tetramine and tetrapropylene pentamine. Briquettes are made from moist coal fines, pitch and the compounds. Specification 953,550 is referred to.ALSO:Solid particles, e.g. coal fines, are surface treated with an aqueous emulsion of a compound R-[HN-(CH2)p]n-NH2 which is a C8-22 aliphatic or cycloaliphatic hydrocarbon group (or the corresponding aryl group); n is an integer from 2 to 5; and p is 2 or 3. Treated particles are subjected to froth flotation, a test being described. Specification 953,550 is referred to.
