957,378. Electromagnetic relays. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. Oct. 19, 1962 [Oct. 27, 1961], No. 39652/62. Heading H2B. A " miniature " electromagnetic relay has a magnetic movable contact spring surrounded by the operating coil and co-operating with a fixed magnetic contact spring outside the coil. The movable contact spring 1 is kinked at 9 to stress the spring into engagement with a non-magnetic fixed spring 2. On energization of the coil 6 the movement of the spring 1 into engagement with the magnetic fixed contact spring 3 is aided by its attraction to an auxiliary polepiece 8 on the spring 3. The ends of the springs 1, 2, 3 are secured in a base 7<SP>1</SP> which is integral with the coil former 7 and a transparent cover 4 may be hermetically sealed to the base 71. A strap 14 may assist in retaining the cover 4. The ends 11 2<SP>1</SP>, 3<SP>1 </SP>of the springs and coil terminals (Fig. 3, not shown) extend from the base to plug into a base 24 having sockets 25 for connection to printed circuits.
