Abstract

957,373. Anti-glare windows. NEW YORK AIR BRAKE CO. Aug. 7, 1962 [Aug. 23, 1961], No. 30157/62. Heading B5N. [Also in Division E1] A sandwich type window pane comprises a pair of transparent sheets 4, 7 impervious to moisture and air and having opposed inner surfaces, and a pair of transparent energy - reflecting layers 5, 6 interposed between said inner surfaces, one layer having a higher energy-reflecting characteristic than the other. The transparent energy-reflecting layer 5 may comprise a coating of chromium and the layer 6 a coating of aluminium, these coatings being applied by a known vacuum process to a thickness of 50-100 Š each, the coatings being applied to the inner surface of sheet 4. The outer sheet 7 may be bonded to the aluminium layer by a polyvinyl butyral bonding layer or may be separated therefrom with a vacuum or non-oxidizing gas.
