957,330. Screw-and-nut gearing. PRECISION GEAR MACHINES & TOOLS Ltd. Feb. 27, 1962 [April 5, 1961], No: 12152/61. Heading F2Q. A recirculating-ball nut comprises a body 2 to which is secured at each end an annular cap 3 having a tangentially-disposed slot 10 housing a finger 4, Fig. 4, the finger being shaped to deflect the balls and provide, in conjunction with the wall of the slot and with the end face of the body 2, a passage interconnecting the screw thread with a longitudinal ball-return hole 9 in the body 2. The inner and outer ends of the finger 4 are shaped to conform respectively with the inner and outer circumference of the cap 3.
