957,210. Transistor sawtooth circuits. PYE Ltd. March 29, 1962 [March 29, 1961], No. 11503/61. Heading H3T. A sawtooth generator comprises two capacitors C1, C2 of equal value connected in series via a constant-current transistor TR1, a second transistor TR2 arranged to charge C1 to a predetermined potential and a third transistor TR3 arranged to discharge C2. Transistor TR1 is biased by rectifying at X, the output of a time base oscillator which also feeds pulses to the other two transistors. Each time transistors TR2, TR3 are made non-conductive, capacitor C1 discharges linearly into C2, giving push-pull output across the capacitors. Transistors TR2, TR3 may be of opposite conductivity type to TR1. In Fig. 1 (not shown), TR1 has adjustable bias provided by a battery and potentiometer.
