Abstract

In a method of inhibiting the corrosion of copper and copper base alloys, the copper surface is treated with a non-abrasive wax or polish containing benzotriazole. The preferred composition contains 0.1-10% by weight of benzotriazole and a particular example of a solid wax polish has the following composition: 7% paraffin wax, 2% beeswax, 13% carnauba wax, 2% dimethyl polysiloxane, 71% white spirit and 5% benzotriazole.ALSO:In a method of inhibiting the corrosion of copper and copper base alloys, the copper surface is treated with a non-abrasive wax or polish containing benzotriazole. The wax was melted and after solidification was applied to the copper surface.ALSO:In a method of inhibiting the corrosion of copper and copper base alloys, the copper surface is treated with a non-abrasive wax or polish containing benzotriazole. The composition may be applied to copper articles such as sliding-clasp fasteners.
