Abstract

956,430. Collapsible containers. F. P. T. INDUSTRIES Ltd. Oct. 18, 1962, No. 39489/62. Heading B8P. A collapsible container has a rectangular base 1 formed of a framework of metal angle or tube to the inside of which is secured a metal or fabric sheet, and has three side walls, formed of a similar framework with a metal or glass fibre sheet, hinged to the base at the bottom extremities of their frameworks 4 by means of projections 5 passing through holes in angle bar legs 2, the legs supporting the base and raising it off the ground. Each end wall 6 is formed similar .to the side walls and is hinged at one of its vertical edges 8 to one of the side walls to allow the end walls to swing around inside or outside its associated side wall. The end walls are secured to the free ends of the side walls by studs which engage in inverted L- shaped slots. The metal cover 9 is secured to the top edge of the walls by metal studs engaging in brackets, and when the container is collapsed it can lie in a .position adjacent the base with the side walls folding inwards and superimposed on the cover. A flexible liner 10 of rubber or plastics material may be attached to the underside of the cover by metal studs thereon engaging holes in the cover. The cover may be downwardly flanged at its sides and ends to give protection to the liner. The containers when extended or when folded may be stacked on one another. Means for filling and emptying the liner may be provided.
