Abstract

A tertiary copolymer of styrene, acrylonitrile and dimethylfumarate is prepared by heating at a temperature between 40 and 120 DEG C. for some days, and preferably in the presence of catalysts such as peroxides or hydroperoxides, 30 to 90% by weight of styrene, 5 to 30% by weight of acrylonitrile and 5 to 70% by weight of dimethyl fumarate. Catalysts mentioned are benzoyl and lauryl peroxides. The tertiary copolymer may be used for the preparation of extruded and injection moulded articles.
