955,603. Electric selective signalling systems. CHAIN BELT CO. Sept. 27,1960, No. 33140/60. Heading G4H. A piston 20 Fig. 1 is driven in a cylinder to any one of a number of discrete positions by means of a selector switch 38 and a set of cam-controlled switches in unit 34 which are operated by a link 72 secured to the piston rod 22 and which control solenoid-operated valves 30, 32. The switches in unit 34 are arranged in pairs 96, 102; 98, 104; 100, 106, Figs. 3, 5 one switch in each pair being normally closed and the other normally open. A normally closed end switch 94 and a normally open end switch 108 are also provided. The switches are actuated by cam rods 36, 37, Fig. 3 and are so connected as to energize the appropriate valve solenoid 30, 32 to drive the piston towards a desired position selected by switch 38, the energizing circuit being broken when the ends of cam rods 36, 37 lie between the corresponding pair of switches. The position of the switches is adjustable.
