Abstract

955, 365. Transverse recording on tape records. USINES GUSTAVE STOAR S. A. Feb. 20, 1962 [July 14, 1961], No. 6536/62. Heading G5R. To reduce the duration of dead spots in the sound, due to the time taken by the drive means for the record/playback head to reverse itself at the end of each track, the contact means controlling the reversal allows for over-run of the head. In Figs. 2 and 3, one or other of the pairs of contacts are resilient, while in Figs. 4, 5, a contact 17 slides freely over an extended contact track 18. Resilient contact means are provided for a reversible wormdrive producing rectilinear tracks (Fig. 1 not shown).
