Abstract

The invention comprises dyestuffs of the general formula <FORM:0954955/C3/1> wherein R is a methyl or ethyl radical, R1 and R2, which may be the same or different, are hydrogen atoms or alkyl, aralkyl or aryl radicals or R1 and R2 can be joined together to form a ring, X is a hydrogen atom or a methoxy or ethoxy radical and Z is a hydrogen atom or a methyl, ethyl, methoxy, ethoxy or-NH-CO-alkyl radical and a process for the preparation thereof wherein a pyrazolone-1-carboxylic acid amidine of the general formula <FORM:0954955/C3/2> is coupled with a diazo compound obtained from a substituted p-aminodiphenylamine of the general formula <FORM:0954955/C3/3> The dyes colour polyacrylonitrile fibres violet shades. Examples are furnished.
