1,200,020. Mono-azo dyestuffs containing substituted-urea groups. CASSELLA FARBWERKE MAINKUR A.G. 11 Oct., 1968 [13 Oct., 1967], No. 48322/68. Heading C4P. Novel mono-azo dyestuffs of the formula (wherein R is the residue of a diazo component of the benzene or heterocyclic series free from -SO 3 H or -CO 2 H groups; R 1 and R 2 are alkyl, alkenyl, aralkyl, hydroxyalkyl, alkoxyalkyl, acyloxyalkyl, carbalkoxyalkyl, alkoxycarbonyloxyalkyl, phenylaminocarbonylaminoalkyl, phenylaminocarbonyloxyalkyl, allylaminocarbonyloxyalkyl, ethylaminocarbonyloxyalkyl, acylaminoalkyl, alkylsulphonylalkyl or cyanoalkyl, or one of them may be H; Y is alkyl, alkenyl, chloroalkyl, aralkyl, aryl, chloroaryl, cycloalkyl, cycloalkenyl, bicycloalkyl, bicycloalkenyl, cycloalkylmethyl, cycloalkenylmethyl, bicycloalkylmethyl or bicycloalkenylmethyl; and X is H, alkyl or alkoxy) are obtained by coupling one mole of a diazo compound of the amine RNH 2 with one mole of the appropriate 1 - NR 1 R 2 - 3 - (NHCONHY)-6-X- benzene. Products containing in the diazo component in the o-positions to the diazo group one or two halogen atoms can be converted to the corresponding dyestuffs containing one or two CN groups as described in French Patent 1,524,647. The dyestuffs are particularly suitable for the dyeing and printing of textile materials made from synthetic fibres. The dyestuffs have predominantly blue and violet hues but some are orange and ruby.
