Abstract

1,175,666. Monoazo dyes. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 9 March, 1967 [14 March, 1966], No. 11075/66. Heading C4P. The invention comprises monoazo dyes of the formula wherein X is H, alkyl, cycloalkyl, aralkyl, alkoxy, aralkoxy, aryloxy, alkoxyalkyl, aryloxyalkyl, alkylamino, aralkylamino, arylamino, COOH, carboxyalkyl or carboxyalkenyl; Y is alkyl, COOH or a carboxylic acid derivative; Z is H or halogen provided that when X is H, methyl, COOH, alkoxy, aralkoxy or aryloxy Z is not hydrogen, and wherein nucleus A may contain further substituents other than SO 3 H groups. They may be obtained by conventional diazotization and coupling under alkaline conditions of the appropriate components. Examples are given for the production of the dyes. They are useful for dyeing polyamide textile materials. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 973,786.
