Abstract

954,906. Brackets. A. R. BAILEY. Nov. 30, 1960 [Nov. 30, 1959], No. 40669/59. Heading A4B. [Also in Division E2] A shelf &c. supporting bracket comprises a wire, rod, or tubular metal framework of right-angle-triangular cross-section formed by rectangular frame 1, 2 connected together by a common member 3 and selectively securable against a wall &c. by one of its faces to provide a horizontal, sloping or steeply sloping supporting surface for a shelf 9 &c. Distance pieces 8 are welded to the members 4, 6 to space the smaller frame 2 from the frame 1 which has an inset portion 11 on which rests one edge of the shelf which has an upturned edge 13. The shelf is retained in inclined position by clips 12 which engage the member 3 and consist of a metal clip 15 screwed to the shelf and lying in a recess in a rubber stop 14 secured by a screw 17. The clips are positioned so that the stops abut the inner surfaces of the side members of the frame to prevent lateral movement and further clips may be provided at 19 to prevent tipping. In a modification the shelf is in the form of a bin or scoop fitting within the framework and is made of wood, metal or expanded metal. The basket is secured to a wall fitting 23 by clips 20 having flanges 21 which embrace the rear members of the framework and engage behind the members 24 of the fitting.
