Abstract

954,618. Jointing by stamping; making electrical connections; bending; corrugating. AMP Inc. Nov. 22, 1962 [Dec. 6, 1961], No. 44144/62. Headings B3A, B3E and B3Q. [Also in Division H2] A connection is made between a fine and a stranded wire by laying the wires along the axis of a soft copper channel, folding over the side portions 3 and 4, and corrugating the ferrule so formed between a crimping anvil 8, and a movable die 10. The two connector bending arms 14 and 15, are moved towards each other folding the sides 3 and 4 to the position shown in Fig. 4. They are then moved apart and the crimping die 10, which has a corrugated lower surface matching with a corrugated working anvil surface 8, descends and crimps the wire in the ferrule. The wire, being in a harder state, than the soft copper ferrule becomes embedded into the material of the ferrule. Specification 912,066 is referred to.
