A yarn traversing guide is formed from a basketlike skeleton 3 defined by helical grooves 2, this skeleton 3 being of a wear resistant material that is embedded in a supporting body (not shown) of relatively inexpensive material. The skeleton 3 may be of steel, bronze, aluminium, a thermoplast, glass, or a casting of epoxide or other suitable resins. The skeleton may be formed with projections 4 for rigidly securing it to the supporting body when embedded therein, and it may be integrally connected to end hubs 6. The relatively inexpensive material may be a suitable plastic.
