Abstract

954,280. Valves. JOHN MILES & PARTNERS (LONDON) Ltd. Dec.31, 1962, No. 49127/62. Heading F2V. A goggle valve plate 11 is movable between flanges 12 surrounding a flow duct of which at least one of the flanges is movable axially of the duct through a bellows 22 to permit movement of the plate 11. Annular grooves 14 are provided in the seating surface of the valve plate, or in the seating surfaces of the flange faces, these grooves being connected to a gas supply 16 at a pressure not less than that of the controlled fluid. The grooves are preferably surrounded by sealing rings 15. The gas supply may be the same as the controlled fluid which acts on a pressure-regulating valve to control the gas pressure supply to the grooves.
