Abstract

953,770. Road rollers. BOMFORD & EVERSHED Ltd., and J. V. FOX. Feb. 19, 1963 [March 27, 1962], No. 11701/62. Heading A1B. To enable a tricycle roller to roll when travelling in a path of substantial curvature without leaving unrolled portions between the rear rollers 11, the front roller 15 is movable around an axis 18 between the front and rear rollers and the width of the front roller 15 is such that when turned by at least 10‹ from the straight ahead position the front roller covers the area left unrolled between the rear rollers. As shown the front roller 15 is mounted in a frame 22 pivotably mounted on a pin 20 attached to a frame 16 pivoted on the axis 18. Two hydraulic jacks 26 move the frame 16 to steer the roller.
