Abstract

953,117. Adjustable visors. D. LEWIS Ltd. Feb. 12, 1963 [Feb. 22, 1962], No. 7018/62. Heading A3V. An adjustable visor for attachment to a crash helmet comprises an eye shield 1 secured by rivets 7 to support arms 2 which are pivotally connected to folded metal plate (e.g. aluminium) member 3, riveted at spaced points 5, 6, to a helmet strap 4. Each support arm carries at its extremity in an aperture 8, a ball 9, engageable with spaced detents 10 formed in plate 3. One end of the helmet strap 4 terminates in an adjustable hook 11 which engages the rim of the helmet and is provided with a plurality of keyhole slots 12 which may engage button 13 attached to the strap thus allowing the strap to adapt to different helmet sizes. The other ends of the strap are tautly secured by screw-adjustable connection 14. By pulling or pushing the face piece to change the position of the visor the ball 9 is displaced from one detent 10 to another thus allowing the visor to lock in the desired position.
