Abstract

952,505. Pipe connectors; hydraulic brakes. GIRLING Ltd. June 28, 1962 [June 30, 1961], No. 23652/61. Headings F2F and F2G. A connector 12 for securing a pipe to a nylon or other plastic reservoir 10 containing brake or clutch fluid comprises a hollow spigot 13 inserted through an opening 14 in the thickened wall of the reservoir 10. The end of the spigot is screw-threaded and receives nut 15 and washer 16. A stepped portion 17 of the spigot engages in a recess in the wall of the reservoir to limit the compression of an annular rubber washer 18 held between the shoulder of the connector 12 and the annular surface 19 of the reservoir 10. The annular surface 19, or the shoulder of the member 12, or both, taper such that the distance between them decreases in an outwardly radial direction. A similar construction can be arranged on the other side of the opening. The reservoir can be made of polythene.
