Abstract

952,462. Photographic cameras. VOIGTLANDER A.G. May 23, 1960 [May 22, 1959], No. 18158/60. Heading G2A. A photographic camera having a shutter and a diaphragm, the blades of which can be adjusted from two adjusting members to which the opposite ends of the diaphragm blades are respectively connected, and of which one is connected with the exposure time adjusting member and the other, constituting an independent adjusting member, can be adjusted according to the indications of a photographic exposure meter, the adjusting members for the several factors affecting the exposure, such as exposure time and aperture, being constructed as coaxial rings following linear scales, is characterized by a leading line field being provided between the path of the pointer of an exposure meter built into or mounted on the camera and the independent diaphragm adjusting member provided with an adjusting mark, the line spacing of which field corresponds along the pointer path to the non-linear law of the exposure meter and is uniform adjacent to the independent diaphragm adjusting member in accordance with a linear scale of exposure values. As shown (Fig. 4) the camera comprises two setting rings 15, 17, diaphragm setting ring 15 of which is releasably coupled to a mark bearing ring 13 for taking film sensitivity into account, and exposure time setting ring 17 of which is also coupled to the diaphragm (to the second of the two adjusting members-not shown) so that adjustments of the ring take place at constant light value. To set the camera for correct exposure by means of an exposure meter mounted in the camera cap, the camera is first pointed towards the subject to be photographed with the exposure meter pointer 7 unclamped. The pointer is then reclamped and the mark 14 is aligned with the particular leading line 12 in the field 10 which is indicated by the tip of the pointer 7. The diaphragm aperture-exposure time combination may then be selected by adjusting mark 18 on ring 17 relative to a fixed time scale 19 and movable diaphragm scale 16. In an alternative embodiment (Fig. 5) rings 13 and 15 are combined as a single ring 20 in which the mark 14 is movable with a filter factor scale 22 relative to a mark 23 thereon and in which the diaphragm scale 16 is movable with an index mark relative to a film sensitivity scale 24. The camera may be mounted in a flash case serving also as an ever-ready case.
