Abstract

951,673. Junction boxes. AUSTIN TAYLOR ELECTRICAL Ltd. July 12, 1962 [April 24, 1961], No. 14666/61. Heading H2E. A junction box for a ducted telephone wiring system has a domed rubber cover 11 which is secured to the box by a reinforced flange 11a The top of the cover has holes 11d through which grommets 16 bonded to cable sheaths 17 may be forced. Grommets 16 are positioned longitudinally by a locating strip 15, shaped to fit closely within cover recess 11c and to seat against a shoulder 18, and transversely by a pillar 19 integral with the cover 11. Each grommet 16 is first threaded through a central hole 25 in strip 15, which hole later accommodates pillar 19, and then displaced transversely into a hole extension 26 which engages a peripheral channel 27 on grommet 16. Alternatively, the locating strip 15 may be dispensed with and grommets 16 made a close fit within the cover 11 to be frictionally retained thereby, the pillar 16 being essential in this case.
