Abstract

A process for resist-colouration of cellulose textile fabrics comprises applying locally to one side of the fabric a thickened printing paste which contains (a) a nitrogenous resin precondensate and (b) a curing agent, heating to cure the resin and thereafter applying to the same surface of the fabric (c) a water-soluble reactive dyestuff. Many components are specified; the preferred compounds (a) are 4,5-dihydroxy-1,3-dimethylol-2-imidazolidone and tetramethylol acetylene diurea, and (b) ammonium chloride or nitrate, diethanolamine hydrochloride, ammonium thiocyanate and especially 2,4-dichloro-6-(51-sulpho-11-naphthylamino) -s-triazine. The printing paste may preferably be thickened with alginates or water-in-oil or oil-in-water emulsions and may contain other additives including methylol stearamide as lubricant or softening agent. The curing step may be carried out at 140-170 DEG C. and is preferably preceded by drying at 75-125 DEG C. On a preferred embodiment of the invention a water-soluble reactive dyestuff is included in the printing paste. The dye (c) may be of the anthraquinone, nitro, phthalocyanine and azo series and may preferably contain a dichloro-s-triazine radical. It may be applied as a medium containing acid-binding agents resin precondensates, thickeners and other known additives by cover-printing or the "nip-pad" process. Fixation is effected by known methods. Examples of resist-colouring are given. Specifications 785,120, 785,222, 826,405, 846,505, 850,559, 888,905 and 947,222 are referred to.
