Abstract

1501889 Transfer printing of textiles SUBLISTATIC HOLDINGS SA 17 Oct 1975 [5 Nov 1974 27 June 1975] 42798/75 Heading D1B Fibres which do not possess affinity for dyestuffs which are vapourised or sublimed at 150-230‹C are first treated on one face with a polymer having affinity for the dyes by spraying atomising or nebulising, printing using a transfer then being effected on the fabric face treated with polymer. A mixture of polymer and a precondensate of a thermosetting resin may be employed the precondensate being cured before or simultaneously with the transfer printing. The polymer may be applied in an organic solvent or mixture of solvents e.g. xylene and isopropyl acetate, or the polymer may be applied in a mixture containing a size based on silicones, optical blueing agents may optionally be added to polymer-solvent mixtures. Wool, cotton and cotton/polyester mixtures are printed by the above process in which the preferred polymers are polyacrylate, polymethacrylate, polyamide, polyester, or the product of reacting an epoxy resin with thiourea or derivative thereof or with a rhodanide.
