951,371. Welding by fusion. GOTAVERKEN A.B. Oct. 26,1962 [Oct. 31,1961], No. 40657/62. Heading B3R. Apparatus for use in welding pipes or pipe fittings consists of a fixed vertical post 1, Fig. 1, carrying at its upper end a work carrier 8, and a seat 6 for a welding operator mounted on and rotatable about the post 1. The seat 6 is secured to a sleeve 4 supported by bearings on the post 1. The work carrier 8 which has a conical support 11 for a flange 12 to be welded to a pipe 13 is removably but non-rotatably mounted on a reduced portion 7 of the post 1. Welding fumes are removed by a suction nozzle 15 mounted on the sleeve 4. For welding T- joints, the carrier 8 is replaced by a modified carrier 8, Fig. 2, having two vertically adjustable supports 18 on which rests the horizontal pipe 19 of the T-joint.
